The scientific career in academic and industrial research

This talk with share some experience from the last 12 years of my scientific career in bioinformatics, from the high school in Novi Sad to the universities in Heidelberg, Granada and Cambridge, and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg.

The talk will address the means of funding these various stages in scientific career as well as the impressions of how easy or difficult it was to access these funds. The second part of the talk will be about forming and funding a high tech biotechnology company as a spin-out from the University of Cambridge (camcellnet.com) and and its growth to three countries and its presence from the USA to Japan. The talk will also address the goals of the SET-Routes project and the importance of this and similar programmes in science and industry.
